R700 Firing Pin Bushing
The Remington 700 bolt face is modified and a bushing is installed. The Firing Pin tip is turned down to fit with minimal clearance. This modification enables the reliable use of small rifle primers and/or solves the issue of primer flow into the firing pin hole. The bushing will be long enough to capture the firing pin tip in the channel when the mainspring is fully compressed. The firing pin protrusion will be verified for reliable ignition.
This operation will add approximately .001”-.002” of additional headspace to your action due to blending of the bushing and truing the bolt face surface.Really rough bolt faces or bolt faces with flame cutting from blown primers may add even more headspace due to resurfacing the bolt face. The ideal time to do this modification is before a new barrel is fit to the receiver. If you use a variable shoulder (Remage) prefits you should adjust and verify that the headspace is correct.
The price of this service does not include any aftermarket parts. The service is for your bolt to have a bushing installed and the OEM firing pin to be modified. You may provide an aftermarket firing pin for modification and a new mainspring for installation.
Add on Threading your bolt knob if you like; 5/16×24 threads will fit a variety of aftermarket bolt knobs. Send your bolt knob for installation if you prefer.
